Arnis/Escrima/Kali is the system of Filipino martial arts used as a self-defense system. Our goal was to create an injury-free training method as well as an effective self-defense system in order to preserve the older Arnis systems. It is derived principally from the style of the Bolo(machete) and the stick-dueling art of Balintawak Eskrima, with influences from other Filipino and Japanese martial arts.
Eskrima or Escrima refers to a class of Filipino Martial Arts that emphasize stick and sword fighting. The term and the art most probably originates from the Spanish wordesgrima which is the term for fencing.[1][2] Other related terms which have entered into common usage include "Kali" and "Arnis de Máno" ("harness of the hand"). Occasionally, the abbreviation "FMA" ("Filipino Martial Arts") is used. Eskrima and Arnis are among the many names often used in the Philippines today to refer to these arts.
Karate (空手?) (Japanese pronunciation: [kaɽate] (
listen), English: /kəˈrɑːtiː/) is a martial art developed in the Ryukyu Islands (Okinawa) from indigenous fighting methods called te (手literally: "hand"?) and Chinese kenpō.[1][2] Karate is a striking art using punching, kicking, knee and elbow strikes, and open-handed techniques such as knife-hands (karate chop).Grappling, locks, restraints, throws, and vital point strikes are taught in some styles.[3] A karate practitioner is called a karateka (空手家?).
With a noble lineage from Mabuni Kenwa Sensei to its present Grandmaster, Soke Seiko Suzuki, Shito-Ryu Seikokai International has become one of the fastest growing styles in Karate and is now represented in more than 20 countries throughout the world.
